China is trying to ease concerns sparked by a government directive urging people to stock up on food ahead of winter. The commerce ministry had posted a notice online, informing the public to stock up on necessities to meet their daily needs and emergencies. Local authorities were also told to ensure supply and price stability. China is currently trying to stamp out a new resurgence of COVID-19 cases that has since spread to at least 16 provinces and regions. That has sparked concerns that it could disrupt supply chains and transportation of goods.
