The Chinese government has asked people to stockpile daily necessities after weeks of supply disruptions caused by COVID-19 outbreaks and extreme weather.
But it’s also sparked confusion and panic buying.
Experts say China’s emergency food reserves and mechanisms are generally in good shape.
But while there isn’t a shortage in supply, price hikes and supply disruptions have been hurting those who can least afford it.
