Erbswurst – German Survival Ration 1867-1945

Erbswurst is an interesting field ration made of dehydrated pea soup combined with bacon and pigfat. It was invented in 1867 and used by the Prussians in the Franco-Prussian war and then continued its service with the German military through WW2.
