Stockpiling in Australia – My Basic Setup (Coronavirus In Australia)

So in Australia, especially Brisbane where I live – people have gone nuts buying an insane amount of food and supplies due to the Coronavirus. I started to panic and then decided to work out if I needed to stay home two – three weeks, or had an emergency and needed to save my grocery money… what would I need.

I realised my housemate had practically no food in his pantry, and whilst I have lots of food normally, I had weight loss surgery so he would eat 3-4 times the amount I would.

So you won’t see face masks or hand sanitiser in my stockpile. I do have soap, some glen 20, one lil hand sanitiser and normal bathroom cleaning supplies – including disinfecting wipes. I didn’t want to go overboard, as it is I felt I sort of did already.

I live in a metro area where the worst weather event I’ve had is hail and strong winds coming from cyclones up north. The water supply has only been interrupted once in the 3 years I’ve lived at my home for half a day. I have a brita filter in my fridge. I’m hoping this is considered a reasonable amount for one person (maybe two) along with my current well stocked pantry, fridge and freezer.

This is what I have done to feel safe and secure. I’m sure people will have other suggestions or needs, it’s important to tailor your situation to you and your family/friends.

Please check out my grocery haul video from this week to see what is currently available in my fridge, freezer and pantry. I just didn’t show all my baking /spices though. I have bakers yeast, stock powders, nutritional yeast, about 10 common spices, salt, pepper, vegemite, jam, tons of condiments and sauces.
